Set out on the ultimate coast-to-coast itinerary that combines the ‘best of the best’ in one easy five-day package on K'gari!
Relax island-side, spending one pre-night and two post-nights at the eco-friendly, Kingfisher Bay Resort located on the western bay. Immerse yourself in an array of nature-based activities, bask in the golden glow of a K'gari sunset whilst sipping island cocktails or wine, and dine at a selection of bars and restaurants.
After a relaxing night at Kingfisher Bay Resort, head out for two full days of touring, spending one night at K'gari Beach Resort, situated on 75 Mile Beach along the island's famous east coast. This bucket list two-day guided tour consists of a small group with an expert local guide, taking you to all the must-see attractions, including Lake McKenzie, hidden gems like Lake Wabby, and the ocean's natural jacuzzi-like Champagne Pools, located on the north-eastern side of the island.
Optional extras* while at Kingfisher Bay Resort include Bush Tucker Talk & Taste sessions, pampering at the Island Day Spa, sunset sessions, west coast eco-marine cruises, and whale watching (August-October). Relax island-side or experience everything there is to see and do – the choice is yours.

Tour Itinerary:
Pre-Night
On the day of arrival, travel from River Heads near Hervey Bay on the ferry crossing of your choice and check-in to your accommodation after 2.00pm. (Ferry time must be selected at time of booking).

Day 2
7.00am Breakfast at Sand & Wood restaurant.
9.00am Prepare overnight belongings. Additional luggage can remain in your room at Kingfisher Bay Resort until your return.
9.30am Arrive at the Sunset Bar for a prompt departure. Courtesy bus is available from reception. Refer to the What You'll See section below for a list of the locations you'll visit.
9.45am Depart Kingfisher Bay Resort and begin K’gari two-day tour.
Buffet lunch at K’gari Beach Resort.
5.30pm Arrival at K’gari Beach Resort and check-in to your accommodation.
6.30pm Dinner at leisure at McKenzie’s on 75 restaurant. Pool table and drinks available at McKenzie’s Bar until late.
Day 3
7.00am Breakfast at McKenzie’s on 75 restaurant.
8.00am Tour departure from outside reception. Picnic lunch on tour along with morning/afternoon tea.
Approx 5.00pm Return to your accommodation at Kingfisher Bay Resort.
Day 4
From 6.30am Buffet breakfast at Sand & Wood Restaurant.
Enjoy full access to Kingfisher Bay Resort's facilities and Ranger-guided activities throughout the day and night.
Day 5
From 6.30am Buffet breakfast at Sand & Wood Restaurant.
Enjoy full access to Kingfisher Bay Resort's facilities throughout the day.
5.00pm or earlier Return to River Heads via ferry transfer at a time of your choice (includes courtesy drop-off to select locations in Hervey Bay).
Central Station
A former logging station that housed schools and shops for the bustling timber industry is now a tourist stop. Stroll along the Wanggoolba Creek boardwalk to discover the ancient King Ferns, towering Flooded Gums and Pine trees.
Lake McKenzie (Boorangoora)
K'gari's most iconic, picture-perfect swimming spot! Immerse yourself in the crystal-clear blue fresh water and relax on the sandy white beaches.
75 Mile Beach
As you travel along this golden beach highway, you may spot dingoes, birds of prey flying above, or humpback whales, migrating down the coast (between July – October).
Eli Creek
Float gently down this tranquil, tree-lined creek with four million litres of fresh water flowing into the Pacific Ocean every hour.
Maheno Shipwreck
Marvel at the rustic wreck of the Maheno, which washed ashore during an out-of-season cyclone in 1935. It’s one of K’gari’s most recognisable sites.
The Pinnacles Coloured Sands
Learn about these radiant, cliff-like sand formations and the Indigenous Dreamtime stories that surround them. Get up close and experience the spectacular 72 shades of rare red, orange and yellow sands.
Indian Head
Cruise past the most easterly point of the island, which is home to marine life such as turtles and rays, often spotted in the waters around the base of this rocky headland.
Champagne Pools
Take a dip in this amazing natural jacuzzi, as waves crash over the volcanic rock into beautiful bubbling pools.
Lake Wabby
Trek across the desert-like Hammerstone Sandblow and be rewarded with a panorama of ocean, lake and forest surrounds, before plunging into this emerald green freshwater oasis. (Please note: this is a 4km return walk through bushland and across soft sands - a moderate fitness level is required. The Lake Wabby walk is an optional activity).
